The Vegbox Project

From pallets to raised beds

This idea is born in the allotment during our gardining sessions. We thought it would be silly not to use the scrap timber we had on the plot. We started with just one raised bed. When we saw the Sustainable City grant open for "recycling, promoting healthy food", The Vegbox idea sprouted and we applied for the grant. CCC has given enough money to make this idea doable.

  • Pallets

    Collecting pallets, soil and manure

We collect pallets from various location. Building site, skips in the streets... We have received a large amount of pallets from the City Rangers.

We drive up to AMEY Recycling plant to get free compost.

We collect horse manure for free from Fen Drayton.

  • Vegbox making

    Making the Vegbox

We cut up the pallets such as we can reuse the bits as panels for the vegbox.

The vegBox are made in our plot at Whitehill Allotment.
